"Restoration"

Angel
Stevie prods his memory: "Now! You just cast this Monica person to play the Mystery Woman."
Crowne seems to remembers something: "I wonder whatever happened to her . . ."

Angel
On the set of "Redemption", Monica watches Crowne and Ruby bicker during each shoot, while a cameraman apologizes to her: they've done three movies together, and this always happens.

Lumsky's getting impatient--cut to the car crash! It's the only scene left, and a new movie starts shooting tomorrow. Crowne seems preoccupied with something, when Monica interrupts him. This is the moment she believes she was sent for. God sent a new Angel, for a new medium's brightest star, to bolster his courage and spread his message of hope. There would be dark days ahead in the twentieth century, and Crowne would live through them all. He must not lose faith, as so many will.

Monica: "I have a feeling that 'Redemption' will be remembered as something special."
Crowne: "Movies are small now, but someday they're going to be big. Thousands, if not millions, will go to see them! When they leave my movie, I want them to feel better about the world than before they went in."
Monica: "Hold onto that vision, Chandler. No matter what happens."
Crowne (gazing into the future): "Ah, well, nothing's gonna happen!"
Monica: "It may seem that way here in Hollywoodland, where the sun always shines, but it rains sometimes in the real world. Dreams are fragile, and visions can dim, if you don't hold them in a safe place in your heart."
Crowne (reassuringly): "Well, I'm gonna do just that, so don't you worry."

Ruby, being difficult as usual, insists on doing the car crash without a stunt double. Crowne is too distracted to argue. He gives her the ok signal, yells action, and Ruby drives into the tree. But the explosion goes out of control, killing her. Another actor, dressed as the Devil, runs to her, waving his arms and calling for help. Crowne can't believe his eyes. As the crew descends on the scene, he sees a sad man approaching the wreck, whom he'll one day know as Andrew. "Oh, God," Crowne whispers.
Angel
"I remember," Andrew fondly recalls, back in the present.
Stevie is puzzled. That whole story doesn't explain why he would make a film like "Damnation" in the first place. Since it was originally called "Redemption", did he, in fact, start out making one kind of film, and end up making another?
"You did have an epiphany, didn't you? Oh man! This is great! It proves everything! So, was it a vision, or a revelation, or what?!"

Angel
Crowne is disgusted. "Go away, Vampire Girl." He wheels himself out of the room.
Angel
Stevie: "Mr. Crowne, please! I need this! Mr. Crowne!! This is my life!!"
Crowne: "No! This is my life! Go get your own!"

Angel
It's in the wee hours at the "Silents are Golden" movie theater, and the organist has finished his shift. Stevie had dozed off after an evening of "chirpy one-reelers". She only watches those because they help her to better appreciate the genius and the vision of Chandler Crowne. Tess finds her here, and is amused by it all. "He's really your hero, isn't he?"
Angel
" He was, but he's not going to tell me anything." She's giving up on her project, because it's due today, and she's learned nothing. Today lasts all day long, Tess observes, and you've got to have faith. "People like me don't have faith," Stevie replies. "Well don't worry about it," says Tess. "I'll lend you some of mine."
